Sat, 15 March 2008 LONDON (Reuters) - It is the one moment every man wants to get right -- and which London floor-fitter Lefkos Hajji could hardly have got more wrong. The luckless 28 year-old's dreams of giving his sweetheart, Leanne, 26, the ultimate proposal have literally vanished into thin air. Hajji, of Hackney, east London, had concealed a $12,000 engagement ring inside a helium balloon. The idea was that she would pop the balloon as he popped the question. But as he left the shop, a gust of wind pulled the balloon from his hand and he watched the ring -- and quite possibly the affections of his girlfriend -- sailing away over the rooftops. "I couldn't believe it," he told The Sun newspaper. "I just watched as it went further and further into the air. "I felt like such a plonker. It cost a fortune and I knew my girlfriend would kill me." Hajji spent two hours in his car trying to chase and find the balloon, without success. "I thought I would give Leanne a pin so I could literally pop the question," he said. "But I had to tell her the story -- she went absolutely mad. Now she is refusing to speak to me until I get her a new ring." He is hoping the ring will still turn up. "It would be amazing if someone found it," he added. (Reporting by Peter Apps. Sat, 15 March 2008 Taken From The Pink Spiders Myspace page: Thursday nite between Nashville and Atlanta, the school bus that we had just bought caught fire and burned to the ground. Along with the bus, we lost everything we take on the road...clothes, laptops, passports, id’s, ipods, cameras, reciepts, cash, song lyrics, everything.Below is the information where you can donate on Paypal or to our P.O. Box to help us get back on our feet. The bus was insured but we’ve been told it’ll take awhile to get anything replaced. In the meantime, we’ll probably not be very easy to get ahold of, but we are going to finish the rest of this tour. Sorry Atlanta and New Orleans but that’s the reason we missed the shows this week. We will be at the show Sunday in Houston. Thanks for everything, we love you guys. -the Pink Spiders To make a donation, just go to Paypal.com, select "Send Money" and enter email address Meanbuzzrecords@gmail.com. Mon, 5 November 2007 so two weeks ago i had the chance to see an amazing band i had never heard of before. Mute Math. I went with my friend Andrew, who had an extra ticket. I didn't know what to think. I really thought it was going to be some emo weird time signature band that I would hate. Wow...was i wrong. I have to say that it may have been one of the best shows i've ever seen. It was passionate, unique, and sounded great. since then i've obtained their catalog of songs and have fallen in love. so if you want to check them out, i say go for it. Songs to check out include: Typical, Noticed, Stare at the Sun, and control. That should get you started.

Sun, 16 September 2007 Weezer in the studio: Album 6 due in 2008! (to regular watchers of weezer.com: yes, youve seen this already. To those who havent been tuning in, check it out!) Dateline: an undisclosed location in Southern California, deep inside weezer lines. Im sitting in a large room that normally doesnt serve as a place where bands record their albums, watching weezer, well, record their album. But then this band isnt known for doing things normally. And this album, their 6th, is sounding pretty far from 'normal' so far. There wont be any song titles or other detailed in-progress info in this report, but I can describe the vibe in the room and the sound in the air. The vibe is healthy, full of dialogue, cooperation, forward thinking and interested experimentation. The sound is definitely weezer, but not quite like any weezer I've heard before. Or rather, not like any one style that weezer has ever tried, but a fresh combination with some new flavors on top. It sounds as if the band has grown into a new land that they had previously only skirted around the edges of - a land where arrangements are getting adventurous, where song structures, lengths and feels are given plenty of sunlight and fresh water and allowed to grow into what the songs demand. It sounds really cool. Like an excellent music farm. Or perhaps a food co-op. The band started this session on Monday July 9 and is scheduled to continue recording here till October. They came into this session with 6 weeks of earlier springtime work under their belts, which yeilded perhaps half of an unfinished album. Now theyve got their sights set on the other half, and all the overdubs and touches the final set of tracks will need to be ready for the world in '08. Based on what I've seen over these past 2 weeks here at Camp Weez, they should have no trouble delivering the goods. Category: general -- posted at: 11:09 AM Comments[0] |
